Leyte Gulf becomes the yards' first winner on the flat....

Leyte Gulf  , who had shown signs of a return to form at Yarmouth the previous week , became the first winner on the flat for the stable at Haydock Park on Friday evening (7/8/9) a date not easily forgotten ! He was given a very intelligent ride by Royston Ffrench who waited and waited for a gap to appear and when it didn't  , had the good sense to pull wide at the furlong pole and forge clear in the final 100yds . We will keep LG on the go as he loves his racing and will need litle work at home in between , he may go to Yarmouth on Monday 17th.....Racing Post Analysis below...

LEYTE GULF took a walk in the betting ring, but that did not stop him from running out a clear-cut winner and putting up a career-best in the process. He travelled really well through the race and, after having to be switched round horses for his effort in between the final 2f, picked up strongly to mow down rivals and score. He has taken an age to come good for current connections, but there was no denying his authority here and he looks an improver. Presumably he will be also going back over hurdles in due course.

Season 2008 - 2009

The season that concluded at Market Rasen on Saturday was our best to date  , both in terms of winners (12 ) and prize money won (£105k+) . The highlight of the season was Surface To Air's win in the Summer National at Uttoxeter , whilst Dream Garden won 2 and was second in a Class 2  . Sparrow Hills also won twice and has developed into a tough and consistent performer . Ashwell went out in a blaze of glory at Kempton in November , winning by 29 lengths . He is now happily out in the field enjoying the spring grass . Our target for the coming season will be to better the last one , which will not be easy , but hopefully Surface To Air will be back after injury and Dream Garden , Monterrico , Persian Gates and others will continue to progress .......
